Dear members and friends of the Sodality of Charity,
The Oblate Sisters of the Holy Face, the Girls Camp committee, and Bishop McGuire again arranged a great Girls Camp. The theme this year was St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face. She teaches us her little way, where we always can count on God’s love, where we tell God we are sorry of our sins, and offer ourselves to Him.
We had many out-of-town visitors attending the camp, and they were introduced to the friendly “gertrudian” spirit of our little church. The attendants had many joyful activities, including a bonfire, making St. Thérèse chaplets, and a play where Father Brueggemann made an appearance.
For July dates, remember First Wednesday on July 5, and our game night on Friday, July 21, after the evening Mass.
I said the monthly Mass for all our Sodality members on Thursday, June 15.
At our Sodality meetings, we occasionally watch movies. I have started to make a list of movies, which the whole family can watch together. Films like that are hard to find these days, but you’ll find some suggestions on my website https://www.fatherlehtoranta.com/blog. So far I have made five reviews, and I hope I can do more in the months to come.
In July, St. Gertrude’s welcomes the Young Adult Get-Together (YAG), where young Traditionalist Catholics around the country come to spend time together – kind of a like adults’ summer camp. Almost a hundred people have signed up. Another big summer event is the Boys Camp, which will be on July 25-27, and where, hopefully, many of the brothers of our Sodalists will take part. Our clergy and Sisters and volunteers always dedicate lots of time and effort to provide good times for children and adults during the Summer weeks, and in this way show both believers and non-believers that “the light of Faith is still burning” – here at St. Gertrude’s like a bonfire.
Lastly, on Thursday, July 13, we have our Fatima Rosary procession for peace in West Chester. If you can, please join us to pray for our country and the world. Our Lady has the only peace plan in which we can unconditionally put our trust, the triumph of Her Immaculate Heart.
Yours in Christ and Mary,
